A Letter from Bob

Bob with two of his nieces, Lisa (l) and Megan (r), who plan to follow him into law.

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Because I revere our profession and love being a lawyer, I feel both honored and humbled to be a candidate for President-Elect of the State Bar of Texas. We practice in difficult times. I am running because I care about the challenges facing Texas lawyers in the worst economic environment in decades, and because I believe the State Bar can and should help lawyers meet them.

As Chair of the Board of Directors in 2006-07, I worked with the President to move to a policy of engagement on issues confronting our profession, talking with the lawyers of Texas about the issues that matter, conveying their positions to the Legislature and to the Supreme Court, and explaining the value of our profession. Building on the State Bar’s tradition of superb leadership, I will continue this policy and will work to:

I make few promises and those I make, I keep. I promise to devote my time and energy to
strengthen our profession and to make the State Bar of Texas even more positive and relevant. I need your support to do so. The State Bar needs you. Please join me in achieving our goals.

Best,
